What would you consider "Vintage"?

When does an item become vintage? Is it a question of a specific number of years?

What if two items, introduced at the same time. One item was a fad that lasted 1 year and the other item was popular in its introduced state for 10 years.

Do they both become Vintage at the same time? Or does one lag behind by 9 years?
